What happens on a hot day towards the end of the school year? Mrs. B and the first graders make some memories when we head to the youth room to kick off our shoes, get comfy on the couches and read, read, read! Oh, and we also had two iPads and Mrs. B's iPhone to take AR tests on.

I can't believe there are only nine days left!?!?!?! I can't believe this will be my last nine days in First Grade!?!?!?! I can't believe what an amazing year it has been. I have said it before and I will say it again. I am so very blessed!

The kids loved helping to lead chapel. They did an awesome job and we wrote about it after! |

We are in the homeward stretch. However, we are still working hard. We are reading, writing
and thinking more than ever. Getting ready for second grade takes a lot of brain power! The work these kids are doing is truly stellar and they are showing me, and the whole school, that they are ready for second grade. Look out Mrs. Fritz, here they come!!!!!!

Even though I am excited about moving to
fourth grade there are so many things I will
miss about first grade. Today I experienced
one of those things I will miss.
A student came to me and said, "Knock!
Knock!"
I said, "Who's there?"
He said, "Thirteen kids."
I replied with, "Thirteen kids, who?"
The answer warmed my heart. I was so
touched when he said, "Thirteen kids who
love you!"

One of the things I love most about this time of year is how independent the kids are. Watching them read, inside their heads, fills my heart with joy. They are learning to love to read. That is the best gift a teacher ever gave me and I am truly blessed to have been able to share that gift with so many kiddos. That is my favorite part of my 19 years of teaching first graders.

Just have to say, I have taught 4 of the Smith girls and I think this might be the silliest one! |
